BILAL AHMED. RAFAY QANDHARI AND MIKAIL SAYEED SCORE.

By Kevin Nazareth

Bay View College “Steeds” continuing their fine form at the Karachi United Football Club (KUFC) School Football Championship 2016 league today (07-01-2017) at the KUFC Football Stadium beat St. Michael’s Convent School in their second match to stay unbeaten.

Back from a very successful and memorable trip to LSF 2017 at LUMS, the football team fighting tiredness and fatigue of the return journey to Karachi in the early morning of the city’s unpredictable cold weather, started off their match against St. Michael’s in an attacking 4-2-4 combination. The Bay View College lads dominated the first half and at the breather were one goal up scored by forward Muhammad Bilal Ahmed. Experienced mid-field player Shariq Shams retired due to a severe cold and cough.

In the second half two substitutions were made, Muhammad Saeed Zuberi and Shariq Shams were replaced by Muhammad Faaz Imran and Muhammad Saad. Breakings away from a mid field tackle, Syed Rafay Ali Qandhari shot from little inside the half way line to score a fantastic second goal. An infringement in the penalty area gave the Bay View College squad a chance to go 3 goals up, Muhammad Laraib Shaikh given the spot kick, squandered the chance and an opportunity to score against his former school. The BVC team conceded a goal by a little over confidence from their defenders. Mikail Sayeed kept quiet by the SMCS defense for the entire match, finally slipped the ball into the left side of the net by a fine right pass across the goal from Bilal Ahmed two minutes from the final whistle to clinch the match 3-1.

The team will play the final match of their Pool at the same venue against KGS on Monday, 9th January 2017 at 3:00 pm. We wish them all the best!
